River Bank Protection Work

River Bank Protection Work by BWDB focuses on preventing erosion and safeguarding land, homes, infrastructure, and agricultural areas along Bangladesh’s major rivers. These works are critical because rivers naturally change course and erode banks, threatening communities and valuable land.

BWDB implements engineering measures such as building protective embankments, riverbank slope stabilization, groynes and spurs, and using geotextile materials, geo‑bags and concrete blocks to reduce erosion and strengthen riverbanks.
